Juan Santamaria International Airport – San Jose, Costa Rica

A new terminal wayfinding program was a key part of the gate and concession expansion program for this gateway for Costa Rica’s burgeoning tourist environment. Our approach was to design sign elements that provided simple, clear guidance to major destinations, and to integrate visual elements from the airport’s brand to create a unique design tone specific to Costa Rica. The wayfinding program was implemented along with improvements to the main concourse corridor to improve lighting and sightlines.

Our scope* included a wayfinding and sign masterplan for terminal and a retail sign guideline.
